We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of all land and waters of the country we now call Australia. We recognise that their sovereignty has never been ceded.
This online space was created to promote dialogue and facilitate collaborative research about archival records held in Italian institutions that contain information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples knowledges and histories. New records will be added as the project grows. Information on this site has different rights, uses, and permissions associated with it and will change according to the consultation of the peoples and communities who are connected to those stories. Therefore, not all content are visible to the public as yet.
We inform visitors that the historical images in the digital archive show images, voices and names of Aboriginal peoples who have passed away. Many of the photographs and texts on the site relate to topics and events of colonisation and may include depictions that are offensive or racist in today’s context.
This man was recognised by the Grafton project as 'Harry Neville'. Born in 1825, Harry Neville was a Gumbaynggirr man and his parents were Billy (Neville) and Mary. He was also known as 'King Harry'.
